We're Ashley and Grant. We started this blog to talk about our animals. Yes, we're those people. Our pets are a part of our family - they're our kids. They're both special though. While we'll primarily be discussing Ella and her cancer, we want to talk about Oz as well, since his illness is also fairly uncommon. We love these two and would do anything for them. In return, they love us unconditionally. It's the best gift they could give us.
Ella is a 6-year-old black and white pit bull mix. We adopted her from a greyhound rescue (long story!) in May 2011. We don't know much about her past except that she was abused and had a litter of puppies. Despite this, she loves unconditionally. She's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. Ella hates baths, but loves to go for walks. She's also great with Oz and treats him like her puppy. In May 2013, Ella was diagnosed with a type of cancer called histiocytic sarcoma. She's undergoing radiation treatments to hopefully shrink her large tumor so she can live a long, great life with us.
Oz is a 6-year-old orange tabby cat. We rescued him from a humane society in 2007. He's an opinionated cat - the first thing he did when we brought him home was promptly poop on our couch after discovering that the pine litter we had bought him was not to his liking. We've learned to just do as he says. Pretty early into his time with us he was diagnosed with chronic asthma. We did a lot of learning about it and he's now on inhalers to keep him happy and healthy. He loves to play, but he's also a champion napper and hider.
